The Persimmon Tree
Although not every wooden golf club is made of Persimmon, most high-quality clubheads have been produced using this special species due to its unique characteristics of durability, density and relative weight. To quote: "Persimmon is nature's gift to the game of golf". The Persimmon tree is of the Ebony family and derives its name from an Alonquian word for "dried fruit". Persimmon timber is very dense and lightweight, making it the perfect species for manufacturing golf clubs.
